These lyrics have been sitting in a notebook for over a decade. I wrote them about someone who means a lot to me and was a big part of my life growing up. As adults, we notice things we didn't always see or understand as kids. It's hard to watch the people we love go through rough patches. These lyrics came from one of those times.

They also made it to the second round of a songwriting contest a few years ago. Looking back, that was the push I needed to finally share what had been sitting in my notebooks all those years.
